Michael started working part-time as a machine operator and laborer for Spoleta Construction during his summer vacations from High School & College.
1980
Michael and David Spoleta are both licensed Commercial Helicopter and Fixed Wing Pilots. Michael received his pilot's licenses in 1980 and David received his in 1990. Their love for aviation was inspired through their late father Michael D. Spoleta, who also was a licensed pilot. They would frequently fly together.

1982
Spoleta Construction and Development built a new 10,000 square foot office and warehouse facility at 7 Van Auker Street, where it remains today. The new office location was chosen by Michael D. Spoleta because it’s centrally located, just outside the inner loop of downtown Rochester.
1982
It was a beginning of a new era for Spoleta, as the third generation started joining the firm. Michael D. Spoleta was proud to have his son Michael M. Spoleta join the company full time as Vice President in 1982, after attending Utica College and finishing the construction management program which earned him a B.S. Degree from Syracuse University.
1984
Spoleta received Building of the Month from the New York State Concrete Masonry Association. Spoleta Construction also built various hotels throughout the 1980's which include Brookwood Inn, Comfort Inn, Econo Lodge Hotels, Residence Inn, Courtyard Marriott and THE INN on the Lake.
1987
Formerly known as Rochester General Hospital-Medical Office Building. The $10MM project included a 100,000 square foot medical office facility which was built and developed by Spoleta. The needs of the hospital were met for additional medical office space. Spoleta then leased the balance of the building to physicians with private practices.
1989
Spoleta Construction built various Wendy's Restaurant locations throughout the Rochester area.
1989
Rochester Mental Health Center
The $3.5MM project was built and developed by Spoleta. The 36,000 square foot outpatient facility helps with Mental Health and Substance Abuse Treatment. Today, the property is still owned by Spoleta.
